Out standing result for the local Poppy Appeal – January 2019

At the first meeting of 2019, the members were delighted to be informed that at the most recent up to date count of the donations for the 2018 Remembrance Poppy appeal exceeded £30.000.

The Poppy Appeal organiser Mr Stuart Dimmock  was overwhelmed  at this result – our highest ever- and thanked all the support he had been given by the out going Poppy organiser Mr Peter Mouncer and the Branch Members , but he stressed that if it wasn’t for all the volunteer collectors,  the young people who organised school events, the teenagers in their ATC and Army Cadet uniforms who gave up their time to be present on market days, -not forgetting the businesses shops and stores who allowed collecting trays or collectors to be present —this amount would not have been reached.

And he was particularly thankful for the Hilgay band of volunteers who counted and probably re-counted all the money.

But of course most of all he thanked those that gave and said what a magnificent generous area we are, he was very proud .
