folderthumb folderimage Elizabeth and Downham standard  Miss Elizabeth Davies, aged 18th has become the deputy Standard Bearer for the Downham and District  Royal British Legion.   Until recently she was the bearer for St John’s Ambulance of Hilgay but has now been recruited to the RBL.  She has applied to be at the Remembrance Service in November at the Royal Albert Hall and has every chance of success.  But before then she will be attending the simple service to remember the huge loss of life at the Battle of Jutland at Downham’s war memorial at 10 am on the 31st May and on the 1st July to remember the Battle of the Somme on the 1st July – both 100 years since.   All members of the public are welcome to the short service at the War Memorial of both occasions   Presently attending Downham Market Academy, Elizabeth hopes to achieve her 3 chosen A levels , Biology, Psychology and Physical education  this summer to enable her to enter Anglia’s Ruskin University in Cambridge  in September for 3 years to study for a Mental Health Nursing degree.
